Ugh, I’ve been having a major crafting/blogging malaise this week. With the pressing deadline of my spinning course coming up, I’ve been preparing like crazy and have lost the buzz. I miss sewing and would rather be doing that so I swiftly rushed out these pants from the By Hand London Holly pattern.
Because I’ve been super lazy lately I did a sort of mashup between this pattern and my tailored pant block so I didn’t have to do any fitting and it worked a charm! They fit perfectly. Not so perfect is perhaps the matching of the graphic print. I had to eke these babies out of only 2 metres of fabric so I didn’t even bother worrying about the print meeting seamlessly over each seam, however I was aiming for the diamonds to be level around the pants and I’m off by a cm or two at the front. It really doesn’t detract from the overall design though so I’ll still wear them with pride!
The fabric is a rayon from Spotlight. I love viscose/rayon, it is my all time favourite fabric. It is so soft and drapey! I’ve been waiting for someone like Spoonflower to offer rayon fabric in their range, as I would be all over it like a rash, but alas it’s not that easy to find. It’s even a rarity in my local fabric shops (what’s with that?). If you happen to know in which shop they have been hoarding this lovely stuff let me know.
And in this short but sweet post – last but not least, new shoes! I don’t have a lot of $$ at the moment for luxuries like pretty shoes, but these were half price as well as sensible and pretty, ‘nuf said!
