As I mentioned in my last post I have been feeling so busy lately ticking items off my todo list. One of my main ongoing projects has been preparing for a class I’m teaching at the Handweavers and Spinners Guild of Victoria in November on spinning gradient yarns. I’ve been blending colours and playing with blending/spinning techniques so I can present lots of beautiful samples in class about what different effects and colour combinations.
I’ve been a bit obsessed with ombré and gradient colour effects and I know there are plenty of methods for dying yarn and fabric to give these effects but I have been wanting to research this type of spinning for a little while. I am playing with fibre changes and texture changes as well as the colour changes and it’s been really exciting seeing how the effects come out and seeing my understanding of carding technique grow.
If you happen to be in Melbourne on the 1st and 29th of November and fancy coming along book in at the guild!
